12 for ’13

slowdown_marathon_girl

So here is my updated list of 12 items (snort! ha! as if!) for 2013.

As of today, I’ve already acquired 5 of the 12 items. Time to slooooooooowwwww it down and save some stuff for the rest of the year. As you can see, there are some items with question marks down at the bottom, allowing some flexibility as the mood/bank balance strikes me.
1.) Breton shirt [x]
2.) Cashmere cardigan [x]
3.) Clare Vivier messenger [x]
4.) Nice black wool trousers (J. Crew suiting to match blazer) [x]
5.) Ankle boots
6.) K. Jacques sandals
7.) J. Crew Matchstick dark wash jeans
8.) Sweater gray cashmere crew [x]
9.) Sweater navy cashmere v-neck
10.) Sweater black cashmere v-neck
11.) Lotuff bag? Clare Vivier ‘Bando’?
12.) Watch? Ferragamo Vara low heels? Scarf?

Love shopping lists. But you’re right, you gotta slow it down cause we’re less than a twelfth of the way through the year and you have almost half your list done! (Explaining math to a math teacher=dumb. Sorry.) Looks like such a good list though. Those Lotuff bags drive me insane, they are so beautiful. As far as the Bando though, may I suggest a leather Baggu for a fraction of the price (there I go again!)? That way you could maybe get both… Just an idea.

    • Ooooh, I like that idea…..both….!

Oh no, am I a horrible influence? An enabler? *evil laugh*

      • :-)

  2. Shopping lists are so fun. You’re right about slowing down if you’re sticking to 12 items. I must say the Lotuff bags are so beautifully made. One of my guy friends has a custom made briefcase from them- it’s gorgeous. I try to run off with it every time I see it.

I would also make a case for the Ferragamo Varas. They’re so comfortable, versatile and last forever. I have several pairs of varas and varinas and wear them constantly.

Oh and I share the love for the K. Jacques you know:)

    • I had a pair of Varas many years ago, which I had found at a vintage shop. I believe they must have been from at least the ’80s, as the heel was slightly more angled than they are now.

At any rate, they were my go-to dressy gig shoes for a couple of years, until in a fit of stupidity I wore them around Chicago in January, and ruined the patent leather and the leather sole with all of the ice, salt, and snow I tromped through. D’oh! Well, at least they had a very long life and were greatly appreciated by at least one owner.

Such a sensible list, I could live happily with all of the items here and actually own a few of them already.
I have done a fair bit of list-clearing over the last three months – the sales have been unusually kind to me :)
As far as the rest of the year is concerned, I intend to get a hand-embroidered iPad sleeve (or two) made by Indian craftswomen. I was asked to offer my views on the designs they are working on by a family friend who runs one of India’s largest crafts non-profit organisations. After seeing a stunning early sample, I feel like the products are going to be a perfect marriage of fashion and fair-trade values :)
Other than that, I might get a custom-made dress by my favourite Indian label, White Champa.

And yes to Ferragamo Varas – I own a pair in oxblood patent and wear them constantly. Ferragamo shoes are incredibly elegant and durable, well worth the price!

      • Another vote for the Varas!

    • I can’t wait to see the iPad sleeve! That sounds amazing!

The cotton sample was sooo beautiful, in gorgeous colours. They are also doing a few in black silk. I don’t know when they will go into production since each piece is made by hand, but I am happy to wait!
