I feel like all I’ve done is complain in the last few posts, so these next posts will be more upbeat, and will feature some things that I picked up in the month of December, and which worked out well.
First of all, Superga!
Similar in price and material to the Converse All-Stars, these Superga sneakers have a better arch support and fewer pop culture associations than Converse. They also have not developed that weird rubber smell that Converse eventually seem to get (at least, I remember back in the ’80s they did–maybe they’ve fixed that). The flat crepe sole has surprisingly good traction when wet. I love how simple and comfortable they are.

Love Supergas! I actually prefer them to Converse. They’re sleeker and I welcome the fact that there are fewer pop culture associations as well. Excellent choice!

absolutely love my supergas – the best part is the gum rubber sole, I love it! much preferred to white rummer soles which get very dirty. the only minor complaint I have about mine is that the canvas has totally rubbed away inside the heel part at the back. although this is fixable, and they have had a LOT of wear.
an all white pair of supergas is definitely on my 2013 wishlist!
